DTZ or B1 — which one do you need?

The DTZ is the final exam of the integration course: it measures A2 and B1 at once, and the certificate states the level you reached. B1 (Goethe or telc) is a separate exam for level B1, often required for work, vocational training or citizenship.

If you are attending an integration course, you need the DTZ. If an employer or authority asks for “B1”, you need Goethe B1 or telc B1. Always check which certificate is accepted.
